Reconstitution Calculator
Reconstitution is the process of adding a diluent (typically Bacteriostatic Water) to lyophilized peptide powder to create a solution. Our tool supports standard 3mL research vials and custom amounts for precise laboratory preparation.

Set the vial and target, then find your syringe draw
This guide simplifies the planning phase. Choose your vial mass and target dose to see how many syringe units to draw based on standard diluent volumes.
1. Vial content
Choose the mass printed on the vial.
2. Target dose
Choose your desired dose per draw.
How to use this calculator
- 1Select your vial content (mg) from the presets or enter a custom amount.
- 2Choose your desired target dose per syringe draw (mg).
- 3The table will automatically calculate the required syringe draw (units) for standard diluent volumes.
- 4Use the Interactive Syringe for a visual reference of the resulting volume.
The Reconstitution Formula
Always double-check your lab math manually before recording in your research notebook.
Reconstitution FAQ
What is a U-100 syringe?
A U-100 syringe is a standard 1mL syringe divided into 100 units. Each unit represents 0.01mL of volume.
What needle should I use for reconstitution?
A larger gauge needle (typically 21G to 25G) is commonly used to transfer the diluent into the peptide vial. Once reconstituted, standard U-100 syringes with finer needles (29G to 31G) are used for precise measurement of research doses.
Can I add more than 3mL to a vial?
Most standard research vials have a 3mL capacity. Our calculator will alert you if the required diluent exceeds this volume.
What diluent should I use?
Bacteriostatic Water is the industry standard for research reconstitution as it contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol to inhibit bacterial growth.
